How to Format HTML

  1. Add your HTML. Paste it into the editor, upload an .html file, or click Sample to try it out.
  2. Pick your style. Choose 2 spaces, 4 spaces or tabs, a line length and how attributes should wrap.
  3. Format it. Click Beautify and the code is tidied right inside the same editor, with syntax colours and line numbers. Pasted code is formatted automatically.
  4. Copy or download. Copy the clean code to your clipboard or save it as an .html file.

Features

Clean Indentation

Every tag is placed on its own line with consistent indentation, so nested elements are easy to follow. Code inside pre and textarea tags is left exactly as it is.

Formats CSS and JavaScript Too

Styles inside style tags and scripts inside script tags are tidied as well, so the whole page is readable, not just the HTML.

Minify With One Click

Switch to Minify to strip comments and extra whitespace. You’ll see how much smaller the file got, which helps pages load faster.

Fast on Big Files

Formatting runs in the background, so the page never freezes. Even files with tens of thousands of lines are ready in under a second, and the editor scrolls smoothly through all of them.

Easy on the Eyes

Tags, attributes, values and comments each get their own colour, with line numbers down the side. It feels like working in a proper code editor.

Private and Offline Friendly

Your code never leaves your browser. It’s handy for client work, internal pages and anything you’d rather not paste into a random website.
